Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Livistona drudei faces severe pressure from habitat destruction as coastal development and agricultural expansion fragment its limited range in northeastern Australia. The species is particularly vulnerable due to its restricted distribution and slow growth rate, making population recovery extremely difficult once stands are cleared. Fire regimes altered by human activity pose an additional threat to remaining populations.
Habitat
This palm species inhabits coastal lowland areas and adjacent foothills in northeastern Queensland, typically growing in sandy soils near creek lines and in open woodland margins. It occurs in transitional zones between rainforest and more open eucalyptus woodland communities.
