Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Pinanga batanensis faces severe threats from rapid deforestation and agricultural conversion across its extremely limited range in the Bataan Peninsula of Luzon, Philippines. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, while logging activities and palm oil plantation expansion continue to reduce the remaining forest patches where this endemic palm survives.
Habitat
This endemic palm species inhabits the remaining lowland and montane tropical forests of the Bataan Peninsula in Luzon, Philippines. It typically grows in the understory of primary and secondary forests at elevations ranging from sea level to approximately 1,000 meters.
