Glyphis garricki is a large, poorly studied member of the requiem shark family, distinguished by a broad, rounded snout, small eyes adapted to turbid water, and a stocky grey body that fades to pale on the underside. As an apex to mesopredator within the river systems it inhabits, it feeds on bony fishes and other elasmobranchs, helping regulate prey populations in estuarine and freshwater food webs. Little is known of its reproductive biology, though like other carcharhinids it is presumed to bear live young, with river mouths and estuaries likely serving as nursery grounds.
