Cycas collina
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Cycas collina faces severe population decline primarily due to habitat destruction from agricultural expansion and urban development across its limited range in the Philippines. Mining activities and quarrying operations have directly destroyed several known populations, while overcollection for horticultural trade has further reduced wild numbers. The species' extremely slow growth rate and limited reproductive capacity make recovery from these pressures particularly challenging.
Habitat
Cycas collina inhabits limestone hills and rocky outcrops in lowland and montane forests of the Philippines. The species typically grows on well-drained soils in open woodland areas and forest margins at elevations up to 800 meters.
