Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
The Slaty-winged Foliage-gleaner faces severe population decline primarily due to extensive deforestation and habitat fragmentation across its Atlantic Forest range in southeastern Brazil. Mining activities, agricultural expansion, and urban development have eliminated much of its specialized montane forest habitat. The species' restricted range and dependence on intact forest understory make it particularly vulnerable to continued habitat loss, with remaining populations increasingly isolated in forest fragments.
Habitat
This species inhabits the understory and middle levels of humid montane Atlantic Forest, typically at elevations between 800-1,500 meters. It prefers dense, mature forest with thick canopy cover and abundant epiphytes, foraging among moss-covered branches and vine tangles.
