Overview
The double-banded greytail is a species of bird in the Furnariinae subfamily of the ovenbird family Furnariidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama.
The Double-banded Greytail faces significant pressure from habitat loss and fragmentation due to deforestation and agricultural expansion throughout its range in the Andes. Its specialized requirements for humid montane forests make it particularly vulnerable to climate change, which is shifting suitable habitat to higher elevations. The species' restricted range and small population size further increase its vulnerability to environmental changes and human disturbance.
Habitat
Inhabits humid montane forests and cloud forests in the Andes, typically at elevations between 1,500-2,800 meters. The species shows a preference for dense understory vegetation and forest edges with thick moss and epiphyte cover.
