Anolis singularis
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Anolis singularis faces severe threats from habitat destruction due to agricultural expansion and urban development in its limited range in the Dominican Republic. The species' extremely restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to localized environmental changes and human activities. Deforestation for coffee plantations and cattle ranching has fragmented its remaining forest habitat, while climate change poses additional risks to this high-elevation specialist.
Habitat
This species inhabits montane forests and cloud forests at elevations between 1,200-2,000 meters in the Cordillera Central of the Dominican Republic. It is typically found in primary and secondary forest canopy, particularly favoring areas with dense vegetation and high humidity characteristic of cloud forest ecosystems.
