Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Nepenthes argentii faces severe pressure from habitat destruction due to mining activities and agricultural expansion in its limited montane range on Mount Guiting-Guiting in Sibuyan Island, Philippines. The species' extremely restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to localized disturbances, while collection pressure from carnivorous plant enthusiasts poses an additional threat to wild populations.
Habitat
This carnivorous pitcher plant is endemic to the ultramafic soils of Mount Guiting-Guiting on Sibuyan Island in the Philippines, occurring in montane forest and scrubland at elevations between 1,200-2,058 meters. It grows as a climbing vine in areas with high humidity and specialized soil chemistry typical of serpentine substrates.
