Listrura tetraradiata
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Listrura tetraradiata faces severe threats from habitat degradation in its restricted range within Brazilian Atlantic Forest streams. Deforestation, agricultural expansion, and urban development have fragmented and polluted the small headwater streams this catfish depends on. Water quality deterioration from agricultural runoff and sedimentation poses additional risks to this endemic species with extremely limited distribution.
Habitat
This small catfish inhabits clear, fast-flowing headwater streams in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil. It requires well-oxygenated waters with rocky or sandy substrates in forested catchments.
