White Kopsia
Kopsia singapurensis
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Kopsia singapurensis faces severe pressure from rapid urbanization and deforestation across its limited range in Singapore and peninsular Malaysia. The species' restriction to primary and mature secondary forests makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat conversion for palm oil plantations and urban development. Population fragmentation has intensified due to forest clearing, while the small remaining populations face increased vulnerability to local extinctions from environmental stochasticity.
Habitat
This species inhabits primary lowland rainforests and well-developed secondary forests, typically in areas with high canopy cover and rich understory vegetation. It occurs from sea level to approximately 300 meters elevation in the remaining forest fragments of Singapore and peninsular Malaysia.
