Galactia herradurensis
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Galactia herradurensis faces severe threats from agricultural expansion and cattle ranching activities that have fragmented and destroyed much of its native dry forest habitat. Urban development pressures in the Herraduras region have further reduced available habitat patches. The species' extremely limited geographic range makes it particularly vulnerable to localized disturbances and climate-related changes in precipitation patterns.
Habitat
This leguminous plant is endemic to dry tropical forests and woodland edges in the Herraduras region of Costa Rica. It typically grows in well-drained soils on hillsides and forest margins at elevations between 200-800 meters.
