Overview
Tricholoma sejunctum is a mushroom that appears across much of the Northern Hemisphere and is associated with pine forests.
The Deceiving Knight faces severe population declines due to widespread habitat destruction and degradation of its specialized forest ecosystems. Climate change is altering the delicate soil chemistry and mycorrhizal relationships essential for this fungus, while pollution and forest fragmentation further threaten remaining populations.
Habitat
Mixed deciduous and coniferous forests, particularly beech, oak, and pine woodlands with rich, well-drained soils. Forms essential mycorrhizal associations with tree roots in temperate forest ecosystems across Europe and North America.
