The Carnarvon Darner (Austroaeschna muelleri) is a striking dragonfly endemic to the sandstone gorge country of central Queensland, Australia, most notably associated with the Carnarvon Ranges and adjacent highland catchments. Like other members of the Aeshnidae family, it is a large, powerfully built species, with an elongated abdomen marked in contrasting patterns of blue, brown, and black, and large compound eyes that meet along the top of the head, giving it excellent aerial vision for hunting insect prey on the wing.
