Vincetoxicum tsaii
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Vincetoxicum tsaii faces severe pressure from agricultural expansion and urban development across its limited range in Taiwan's mountainous regions. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, while collection for traditional medicine purposes has further reduced wild populations. Climate change poses an additional threat as warming temperatures may force this montane species to higher elevations with increasingly limited suitable habitat.
Habitat
This endemic Taiwanese species inhabits montane forests and forest edges at elevations between 1,000-2,500 meters. It typically grows in partially shaded areas with well-drained soils along forest margins and in clearings within broadleaf and mixed coniferous forests.
