Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
The Rondônia Bushbird faces severe pressure from rapid deforestation and agricultural expansion throughout its limited range in the Brazilian Amazon. Cattle ranching and soy cultivation have fragmented its terra firme forest habitat, while logging operations continue to degrade remaining forest patches. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to localized habitat destruction, with some populations already isolated in small forest remnants.
Habitat
The Rondônia Bushbird inhabits dense terra firme rainforest in the southwestern Brazilian Amazon, preferring the understory and mid-story levels of primary forest. It occurs in both upland and transitional forest areas, typically avoiding forest edges and requiring continuous canopy cover for foraging and nesting.
