Polyscias thailandica
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Polyscias thailandica faces severe threats from rapid deforestation and agricultural expansion across its limited range in Thailand's lowland forests. The species' extremely restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, while logging activities continue to reduce the quality of remaining forest patches. Urban development and infrastructure projects pose additional pressure on the few known populations.
Habitat
This endemic species inhabits lowland tropical forests in Thailand, typically found in primary and secondary forest environments at elevations below 500 meters. It grows in the understory and forest edges of humid evergreen forests with rich, well-drained soils.
