Plinia renatiana
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Plinia renatiana faces severe pressure from agricultural expansion and urban development throughout its limited range in Brazil's Atlantic Forest region. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, while selective logging for valuable timber species continues to degrade the remaining forest patches where this endemic tree occurs.
Habitat
This endemic Brazilian tree species inhabits remnant Atlantic Forest fragments, typically occurring in humid montane forests and forest edges at elevations between 500-1200 meters. It grows in well-drained soils within the highly threatened Atlantic Forest biome of southeastern Brazil.
