Peritassa sadleri
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Peritassa sadleri faces severe pressure from deforestation and agricultural expansion across its limited range in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, as remaining forest patches become increasingly isolated. Mining activities and urban development further reduce available habitat, while the slow growth rate typical of woody vines limits the species' ability to recolonize disturbed areas.
Habitat
This woody vine inhabits the understory and edges of Atlantic Forest remnants in southeastern Brazil, typically growing in humid montane and submontane forests. It occurs in both primary and secondary forest formations, often along forest margins and in areas with partial canopy cover.
