Paradrymonia hypocyrta faces severe pressure from deforestation and habitat fragmentation across its limited range in Central American cloud forests. Agricultural expansion, particularly coffee cultivation and cattle ranching, has eliminated much of its specialized montane habitat. The species' narrow altitudinal requirements make it particularly vulnerable to climate change, as warming temperatures force suitable conditions to higher elevations where habitat availability becomes increasingly restricted.
Habitat
This epiphytic plant inhabits humid montane cloud forests at elevations between 1,200-2,000 meters, typically growing on moss-covered tree trunks and branches in areas with persistent fog and high humidity. It requires the specialized microclimate conditions found in undisturbed cloud forest ecosystems of Central America.
