Neoraputia calliantha
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Neoraputia calliantha faces severe pressure from deforestation and agricultural expansion throughout its limited range in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, as remaining forest patches become increasingly isolated. Mining activities and urban development further reduce available habitat, while the species' apparent ecological specialization limits its ability to adapt to degraded environments.
Habitat
This species is endemic to the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) of southeastern Brazil, where it occurs in humid montane forests and forest edges. It typically inhabits areas with well-developed canopy cover and appears to prefer elevations between 500-1200 meters in the coastal mountain ranges.
