Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Chrysophyllum splendens faces severe pressure from deforestation and agricultural expansion throughout its Atlantic Forest range in southeastern Brazil. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, as remaining populations become isolated in small forest patches. Urban development and cattle ranching continue to reduce the quality and connectivity of its native forest habitat.
Habitat
This tree species is endemic to the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) of southeastern Brazil, occurring in humid lowland and montane forests. It typically grows in well-drained soils within primary and secondary forest formations at elevations up to 1,000 meters.
