Knema pierrei
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Knema pierrei faces severe pressure from deforestation and habitat conversion throughout its Southeast Asian range. Logging operations and agricultural expansion, particularly oil palm plantations, have fragmented the lowland and hill forests this species depends on. The species' limited distribution and specific habitat requirements make it particularly vulnerable to ongoing forest loss in the region.
Habitat
Knema pierrei inhabits primary and secondary lowland rainforests and hill forests up to 800 meters elevation. The species is typically found in the understory and middle canopy of dipterocarp forests across peninsular Thailand, Malaysia, and possibly southern Myanmar.
