Palaquium pauciflorum
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Palaquium pauciflorum faces severe pressure from deforestation and logging activities throughout its native range in Southeast Asian tropical forests. The species is particularly vulnerable due to its slow growth rate and limited regeneration capacity, making recovery from habitat disturbance extremely difficult. Agricultural expansion, especially oil palm plantations, has fragmented remaining forest patches where this tree species occurs.
Habitat
This species inhabits lowland tropical rainforests and mixed dipterocarp forests in Southeast Asia, typically occurring in primary forest areas with rich, well-drained soils. It is found from sea level up to approximately 800 meters elevation in undisturbed forest ecosystems.
