Ixora raivavaensis
Declining
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Ixora raivavaensis faces severe threats from habitat degradation on its native island of Raivavae in French Polynesia. The species' extremely limited range makes it vulnerable to invasive plant species that compete for resources and alter native forest composition. Human activities including development and agricultural expansion continue to fragment the remaining suitable habitat patches.
Habitat
This endemic shrub occurs in the native forests and forest margins of Raivavae island in the Austral Islands archipelago. It typically grows in humid, mountainous terrain with well-drained volcanic soils at moderate elevations.
