Isopora crateriformis is a reef-building coral in the family Acroporidae, closely related to the genus Acropora. It forms encrusting to columnar colonies with distinctive knob-like or club-shaped projections, and like other scleractinian corals, it relies on symbiotic zooxanthellae algae for energy through photosynthesis while also capturing plankton with its polyps. As a hard coral, it contributes to the physical structure of reef habitats, providing shelter and substrate for a wide range of associated marine organisms including fish, invertebrates, and other reef-dependent species.
