Inga lenticellata
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Inga lenticellata faces primary threats from deforestation and habitat fragmentation across its limited range in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. Agricultural expansion, particularly cattle ranching and crop cultivation, continues to reduce and isolate remaining forest patches where this species occurs. Urban development and infrastructure projects further fragment the already restricted habitat, making populations more vulnerable to local extinctions.
Habitat
Inga lenticellata is endemic to the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) of southeastern Brazil, occurring in humid lowland and montane forests. The species typically grows in primary and well-preserved secondary forest areas with rich, moist soils and high canopy cover.
