Glochidion tomentosum
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Glochidion tomentosum faces severe pressure from rapid deforestation and agricultural expansion across its native range in Southeast Asia. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, as remaining forest patches become increasingly isolated. Urban development and palm oil plantations have eliminated much of its lowland forest habitat, while logging operations continue to degrade the quality of remaining forest fragments.
Habitat
This species inhabits tropical lowland rainforests and secondary forest edges, typically found in areas with high humidity and partial shade. It occurs primarily in disturbed forest margins and clearings where it can tolerate moderate levels of human disturbance.
