Endlicheria lhotzkyi
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Endlicheria lhotzkyi faces significant pressure from deforestation and agricultural expansion throughout its Atlantic Forest range in southeastern Brazil. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, as remaining forest patches become increasingly isolated. Mining activities and urban development in the region pose additional threats to the specialized montane forest ecosystems this species requires.
Habitat
Endlicheria lhotzkyi is endemic to the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) of southeastern Brazil, occurring in montane and submontane rainforests at elevations between 500-1,500 meters. The species typically inhabits the understory and canopy of primary and well-preserved secondary forests in areas with high humidity and consistent rainfall.
