Craugastor adamastus
Overview
Craugastor adamastus is a species of frog in the family Craugastoridae. It is endemic to Guatemala and only known from its type locality near Aldea Vista Hermosa, on the northern slopes of the eastern portion of the Sierra de las Minas, where the type series was collected in 1980–1981.
Craugastor adamastus faces severe threats primarily from habitat destruction and fragmentation due to agricultural expansion and deforestation within its limited range. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to environmental changes and human activities that degrade its specialized forest habitats.
Habitat
This species inhabits montane cloud forests and humid tropical forests at elevations between 1,200-2,000 meters in Central America. It is typically found in leaf litter and low vegetation within primary and secondary forest environments with high moisture levels.
