Campylospermum letouzeyi
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Campylospermum letouzeyi faces severe pressure from agricultural expansion and logging activities throughout its limited range in Cameroon's forest regions. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to habitat fragmentation, as small population clusters become isolated when forest corridors are cleared for cultivation. Mining operations and infrastructure development further compound these pressures by creating permanent habitat loss in critical areas.
Habitat
This species inhabits lowland and submontane tropical rainforests of Cameroon, typically occurring in primary forest understory and forest edges at elevations between 200-1,200 meters. It shows preference for areas with high humidity and dense canopy cover, often found along forest streams and in valleys with rich, well-drained soils.
