Overview
Pisonia donnellsmithii is a species of plant in the family Nyctaginaceae. It is found in El Salvador and Guatemala. It is threatened by habitat loss.
Cagalero faces significant threats from habitat loss due to deforestation and agricultural expansion throughout its range in Central America. Coastal development and urbanization have fragmented its natural habitat, while climate change poses additional risks to its specialized ecological requirements.
Habitat
Inhabits tropical coastal forests, mangrove edges, and lowland dry forests from sea level to approximately 800m elevation. Typically found in sandy soils near coastlines and in gallery forests along rivers in Central America.
