Amphipterygium glaucum
Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Amphipterygium glaucum faces severe pressure from agricultural expansion and cattle ranching throughout its limited range in western Mexico. Deforestation for crop cultivation and livestock grazing has fragmented its dry forest habitat, while urban development continues to encroach on remaining populations. The species' restricted distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to localized habitat destruction.
Habitat
This endemic Mexican tree species inhabits tropical dry forests and deciduous woodlands in the Pacific coastal regions of western Mexico. It typically grows in areas with distinct wet and dry seasons, often on rocky slopes and well-drained soils at elevations between 200-1,500 meters.
