Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Adetomyrma venatrix faces severe threats from deforestation and habitat fragmentation in Madagascar's rapidly disappearing rainforests. Mining activities and agricultural expansion have destroyed much of its specialized leaf litter habitat. The species' extremely limited range makes it particularly vulnerable to local extinctions from slash-and-burn agriculture and charcoal production.
Habitat
This rare ant species inhabits the leaf litter and soil layers of Madagascar's eastern rainforests, particularly in areas with dense canopy cover and high humidity. It requires undisturbed primary forest with deep organic matter accumulation for foraging and nesting.
