Overview
A detailed profile for this species is sourced from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as assessments become available.
Adelophryne baturitensis faces severe pressure from habitat destruction in Brazil's Atlantic Forest, one of the world's most threatened biodiversity hotspots. Deforestation for agriculture, urban expansion, and infrastructure development continues to fragment the remaining forest patches where this endemic frog survives. The species' restricted range and specialized habitat requirements make it particularly vulnerable to ongoing forest conversion and degradation.
Habitat
This species inhabits the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) of northeastern Brazil, specifically in montane forest environments of the Baturité Mountains in Ceará state. It occurs in humid forest leaf litter and understory vegetation at elevations between 600-1000 meters.
